Issue #4

Issue #4 was another BIG one - size-wise - and grabbing one today, I’m surprised with how big it was. At 160 pages, and printed 8.5” x 11” it was not cheap to ship!

Like the first 3, this issue was without a cohesive theme, other than all of the submissions being in black and white, but honestly - flipping through the pages, all of the submissions just flow together and amazingly 20 years later really do exist as an aesthetic time capsule, just as intended.

As with the previous issue, American Apparel was the main sponsor - which while I realize in hindsight is not as cool or amazing as it felt at the time, I was extremely excited to have the support.

For me, highlights included Jason Polan interviewing Tom Wilson, and a section titled “DIY GOES PRO: Journals of Aesthetics & Protest” where I interviewed Dustin Beatty of Anthem Magazine, Brian Gibbons and Mark Searcy of Art Prostitute, Amirh Fallah of Beautiful Decay, James Hughes of Broken Wrist Project, Jen Angel and Jason Kucsma of Clamor, Kevin Grady and Colin Metcalf of GUM, Ray Potes of Hamburger Eyes, Edmar Lumpen of Lumpen Magazine and Joshua Lynne of RE: UP - talking about the life and times of indy publishing.!

Faesthetic #4 is SOLD OUT! Released 2004
